Great Finish on the Pacific Coastin LA, CA

Well, here we are at the beach with the Grand Kids in Los Angeles, California!

The moment in life! Makes all the miles worthwhile!

Nothing could be finer!

Mr. and Mrs. Quintanilla.
(Lovebirds!)

And at Jordan's fabulous Japanese restaurant in LA, Gyoro Gyoro.

Master of Hospitality, Jordan at Gyoro Gyoro.

On our way up the elevator to Gyoro Gyoro!

Fabulous Quintanillas at dinner!

Happiness with the Grand Kids is only a six hour drive from our coach...

Home Sweet Home
Mesa, AZ

The coach is parked in Mesa, AZ at a really fabulous Cal Am resort, Valle Del Oro.
Dede is teaching full time at Shaw Butte Elementary, in Phoenix, AZ. It takes her between 40-65 minutes commuting through the 5th largest city in the US.  This was NOT part of the travel plan, except that Dede was hoping to teach part time or substitute once we got to Arizona for four months. The reason for this change is because of how wonderful this school and its music schedule appeared when Dede put in her application to the Phoenix school district. Oops! Now we will be in AZ until the end of May, 2014.

So with Dede working fulltime again, Kim looked into a workcamper job here at the resort and was offered a job of putting out chairs for the many weekly events.  Then he looked into the local PTR tennis club. Tough choice: chairs or tennis?  Naturally, Kim chose teaching tennis and assisting at the Mesa Country Club, with a "Master" tennis teacher. It takes him half hour on the scooter. In September, Kim took a seminar and tested for a new rating as tennis teacher for ages 11-17.

Lost Dutchman Park, Mesa AZ.
Our first hike.

Things we've learned in the AZ desert after one month:
1-you can drink all day long and never need the restroom. This also means Dede gets through a long-length movie after dinner without having to sneak out!

The view across the street from the resort at sunrise.

2-the car battery bakes from the sun and heat and no, it won't recharge. When you buy the new battery, get the extra warranty and get a new one free every year.

Sunset on our street.
(The coach is peeking out between two park models.)

3-that bad smell is NOT coming from a bad septic line in the park. It's the smell of cattle and horse ranches blowing miles across the plains to your coach.

Horses share the trails with us at "Lost Dutchman" Park.
(20 minutes from our home in Mesa.)

4-scorpions aren't lethal, they just feel like "liquid fire" (No, we didn't get bit, we asked a park ranger!). Yes we saw one on our nature hike.

5-98-degrees feels like a cool day.

6-LA is a desert, too.  All that green grass costs somebody lots of water money!

7-People in AZ don't sound like Texans, Alabamans, Floridians or any of the other southern dialects.  They sound like East coasters (PA, MD, NY, DE)!  We fit right in.

So we have lots to see and do while we're here and we look forward to showing the kids how to RV by bringing them out here to rent an RV for a weekend.  Whoo Hoo!

Happy Trails to all our friends and family! We're ultra happy and we hope you are too!

Take good care,
Dede and Kim
